Updating iLabPOS to a newer version
As new features are developed and bugs are fixed, new versions of iLabPOS are released
continuosly. You don't always need to have the latest update, however sometimes there are certain
new features which you might need. Other times there may be bug fixes which will make
your life easier. Follow this manual on how to update iLabPOS to the latest version.
Determining your current Version
First of all you need to know what your current version is. This is easy as the version
is displayed on the title bar when you open iLabPOS.
To check which is the latest version that has been released from iLabMalta, go to
our homepage and check the News Section. We always post a comment when a new release
comes out. If we released a new version and we haven't sent it to you already via email,
let us know.
Doing the update
Warning! Do not try to do an update unless you know what you are doing. If you are not sure
whether you can take a full backup of iLabPOS, then get help. If you do not understand
the following steps, then chances are that you can mess up! Get help!
Once you have an email from us with the attachment of the latest update, follow these
steps:
1. Make a full backup of iLabPOS. Things can go wrong during an update, and if they do,
you want to have a full backup to go back to where you where before. We cannot be held
responsible for any damage to your data caused during an update. The best example of a full backup
is copying the full iLabPOS folder to a Pen Drive, and then run iLabPOS from the
Pen Drive on another computer. If it works on another computer, with all the data up to date,
then you have a good backup! Backups can also be done on CDs, other Network PC's, etc....
2. Open the email we sent you, and double click on the attachment. The attachment we sent you
is a ZIP file which contains the update. In some cases we will not send you an attachment, instead
we will send you a download link.
3. Extract the contents of the ZIP File to your iLabPOS Folder. The zip file will only contain
1 file, POS.EXE. This is the application file. Overwrite your old one with the new one.
4. Open iLabPOS. You might get a message saying that a Database Update has occured. This is normal,
click on OK and keep going. Make sure that the Version Number has incremented to the new version
you updated.
